What is the time obligation of a Kiwanis member?
The Kiwanis Club of Weston does not have a set attendance rule. We invite members to attend meetings and participate in service and social events as they are able.
What are the financial obligations of a Kiwanis member?
All dues and fees are set by the members. Annual membership dues are $160. Your first-year dues are prorated based on the month you join and include a one-time fee to cover the cost of new member items. Follow this link to see the membership dues schedule. The secretary will invoice you after the board admits you to membership.
Our weekly chef-prepared full breakfast buffet is $10. A continental breakfast is an option for $5. Other social events, such as our annual holiday breakfast and August family picnic, may have separate pricing as set by the members.
Are my dues tax-deductible?
No. Individual dues, fees, contributions, or gifts to the club* are not deductible as charitable contributions for federal income tax purposes. The club is incorporated in Connecticut as a nonstock corporation and operates exclusively as a 501(c)(4) organization to promote social welfare.
*The IRS recognizes the Kiwanis Club of Weston Foundation, Inc. as tax-exempt under Internal Revenue Code (IRC) Section 501(c)(3). Donors can deduct contributions they make as provided in IRC Section 170. The foundation is qualified to receive your tax-deductible bequests, legacies, devises, transfers, or gifts under IRC Sections 2055, 2106, and 2522. Our Employer ID Number: 06-1468625.
